General information

Birmingham Metro Music Forum (BMMF) is the Birmingham affiliate of the Alabama Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.

Founded originally as Birmingham Piano Teachers Forum, it became Birmingham Metro Music Forum in order to include teachers of all music disciplines.

Membership in the Birmingham Metro Music Forum affords numerous opportunities for teachers and students including monthly student recitals held the 1st Saturday of most months, monthly meetings and presentations, and the February Theory Examinations. Please see the dates and details for those, listed below.

Additionally, members of BMMF/AMTA may participate in the April Pre-College District Solo Auditions, and qualifying students, ages 10 and above, may participate in the May AMTA State Solo and April Concerto Auditions.  Students who win at the state level are invited to perform on one of the "Winner's Recitals" held annually during the June Alabama Music Teachers Conference.

Members in AMTA/MTNA may also participate in several additional auditions at the state and national level as well as receive the very informative monthly MTNA periodical, American Music Teacher.
